Human behavior-oriented corruption prevention initiatives in the public sector: a systematic review of national and international literature

Corruption, seen as a social phenomenon, has been the subject of studies around the world. However, there is still little research focusing on human behaviour in the public sector with regard to preventive measures to combat corruption. The aim of this study is to present a scenario of articles published in national and international journals on the use of behavioural science in preventing corruption in the public sector. To this end, a systematic review of national and international literature was carried out, identifying 79 articles, of which 19 were selected for analysis. It was concluded that, in the articles analysed, the theme is emerging but still incipient, indicating a series of possibilities for future agendas. The evidence found is relevant to the intensification of research in favour of promoting public integrity, as it signals the need for studies that focus on the individual component related to corruption practices.
