Disciplinary Administrative Process: proposed methodology for identifying costs, applied at a federal university

This research aimed to analyze the disciplinary procedures of the University of Brasília (UnB), especially those carried out within the scope of the Permanent Commission for Investigation and Disciplinary Administrative Proceedings (CPSPAD), and based on this, to consider the volume of financial resources used to carry out this administrative activity. To this end, the direct and indirect costs involved in investigative activities were identified. The research is applied, with a descriptive objective, using the methodological procedures of documentary and bibliographic research and case studies. The results provided an estimate of the financial expenditure per Disciplinary Administrative Process (PAD). Based on the conclusions reached,it was possible to recommend the adoption of training and capacity-building measures for the community of public servants at UnB, with a view to reducing the incidence of functional infractions, which, in turn, will minimize the initiation of disciplinary proceedings and, consequently, reduce costs to the public purse, directing these resources to the institution’s core activities.
