Corruption; Regulatory Impact Analysis – RIA; RegulationAbstract
Corruption is one of the unwanted effects that can occur in regulatory policies. When the government develops regulations, there is a risk that rules, subsidies or contracts will be established in favor of certain groups, in exchange for advantages to the regulators. To inhibit the occurrence of corruption, the Regulatory Impact Analysis - RIA can act as a barrier to the functioning of corrupt regulatory structures. In this context, the objective of the present work is to explore possibilities on how RIA can contribute to the prevention of corruption. To achieve this goal, the RIA mechanism adopted in Brazil was investigated, through documentary research. The results of the research showed that RIA can be useful in preventing corruption and indicated some measures that can be adopted by public institutions to make the RIA even more effective for this purpose.
