Abstract

Revista da CGU opens its commemorative dossier for the 10th anniversary of the Right to Information Act (LAI) in Brazil presenting the interview with Joara Marchezini, Master in International Humanitarian Action at the University of Deusto, Spain, and Project Coordinator at the Nupef Institute. Joara was a project officer in the Access to Information area of ??the non-governmental organization Article 19 for 7 years and actively participated in the negotiations of the Escazú Agreement. The subject aligns with central issues in today's different societies related to the protection of the environment and the promotion of human rights, including both the right to information and social participation and access to justice. It also addresses the interdependence between rights and the need for coordination between public policies. On the one hand, the theme is linked to the assumption that environmental protection and sustainable development depend on policies on access to information, and, on the other, that these policies only find their reason when they provide access to information related to some dimension of importance, as in the case of environmental information.

Mestre em Ação Internacional Humanitária pela Universidade de Deusto, Espanha. Pós-graduação em Direitos Humanos e Democracia pela Universidade de Coimbra. Graduação em Relações Internacionais pela Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho.
